I Finished the Master Cleanse!

It’s been a full 5 days since I’ve been off the Master Cleanse. I can’t tell you how good that first cup of diluted orange juice was. lol Through out the first day I slowly backed off the amount of water I added to my OJ until day 2 when I had it full strength. I’ve been monitoring my body very carefully since coming off the cleanse. I could feel my stomach react to the different food types I reintroduced. Some gave me cramps and that’s when I knew to back off a bit. This is expected since I’ve only been drinking one thing for the past 10 days, other than water and tea.

The game plan is to have plenty of water and diluted orange juice on day one off the lemonade cleanse, then regular juice and vegetable broth (if you can stomach it) on day 2. Day 3, try some fruit and smoothies for breakfast along with your juices and vegetable soup for dinner. What I did was fix a big pot of vegetable soup with plenty of broth. I had just the broth on day 2 and on day 3 I had the whole thing. And by day 4 you may be ready for salads. I say this because raw vegetables are a little tough for your stomach to break down. Not as hard as meat but more so than raw fruit. From there you can gradually introduce fish then chicken etc. But take it easy.

Over all I can’t say I’ve really felt the incredible burst of energy many people report, but my sensitivity to such things has always been a bit dull. I could drink a Red Bull and not feel anything even thou it would have me juiced for a hour or so. But I don’t need to feel anything to know that I’ve done good by my body to cleanse it the way I did. I cleaned out so much waste that would have never come out on it’s own. My stomach is flatter and other than the slight weakened state I was in from not getting my full caloric intake I felt pretty good. You tend to feel a lot better about yourself having finished the cleanse and perhaps that’s the first step to a over all positive health awareness. If you’ve followed along with me on this journey and you’re at the end like I’m read my post on what to do after the Master Cleanse. It will help you stay on the right track.

Thanks for reading and happy cleansing!

Final Days of the Master Cleanse

As I write this I am within my last 48 hours of the 10 Master Cleanse. Even though I’m hours from the finish line the journey is by no means over. Once the cleanse is done I’ll have from 3 to 5 days to build my system back up. You may be thinking, “I thought the Master Cleanse was supposed to re-energize and build you up?” The answer to that is yes and no. The cleanse really does 2 things. It both frees up your body’s owe cleansing organs and kicks them into over drive. However, what the cleanse does not do is feed your body things like protein, antioxidants, potassium etc. This is why it’s not advisable to do a cleanse for too long. It was only meant to be a temporary reset of your system. Then you are to gradually reintroduce foods rich in the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

Over the course of this journey I experienced very few of the side effect of the Master Cleanse. I had a few pimples pop up but nothing I could prove was a direct result of the cleanse. I had mild headaches throughout the cleanse. And if you ask my wife I’m sure she would tell you I was a bit cranky from time to time. Sorry Babe. But that’s it. I didn’t get sick, no rashes, adverse effects. Everyone’s experience may be different.

Of course I find myself having to explain what I am doing to a number of people as I interact at work and other social gatherings. And the best way I can describe to people what it takes to do the Master Cleanse is this. If you’ve been a person of indulgence for most of your life, meaning you’ve never denied yourself anything you might want, the Master Cleanse will be difficult for you on some level.

There are 4 major hurdles to overcome while doing the Master Cleanse.

  • Going without food – This of course is the one everybody fears, so much so that there is the false belief that you can not survive without food for 10 days. Truth is, the body can go for over twenty days without food.
  • The taste of the lemonade – It’s just lemonade with a peppery kick from the cayenne but for some people taste comes before their health.
  • The Salt Water Flush – This one is tough because you’re supposed to drink a quart of salty water in one sitting everyday for ten days. This was my biggest challenge. If it’s yours too do what I didn’t and take a day off and drink a extra cup of laxative tea.
  • And lastly the side effects – This can range from mild aches and pains to a bladder infection. I know that’s a big swing but everyone’s body is different and it all depends on your level of health.

Well I hope this post was helpful for you. I’ll post another update real soon.

By the way stop by my Facebook page for more info that you won’t see here.

Happy Cleansing.

What I’ve Learned – Five Days Of Master Cleansing

Hello everyone. It’s been a few days since my last post and the reason is I haven’t had much to report from days 3 and 4. But collectively from the last 2 days I can give you somethings to think about. Note, it is important to take into consideration that everyone’s body is different. From your inherited genes to your learned eating habits. Even the amount of stress you subject your body to. All of these factor into the way your body will respond to the Master Cleanse. So some of the things I experience may be totally different from what you’ll face. Please keep that in mind.

On day 3 my tongue started to coat and I got a pimple of sorts on the inside of my mouth. Weird I know. But these are all signs that toxins are being pushed out of my system. I also weighed myself on the Wii Fit and came in at 157 lbs. I don’t put much stock in this because I had a stomach virus 3 weeks ago and had already lose around 6 pounds and weighed in at 163 lbs. I actually didn’t want to lose any of my weight, so neither I nor my wife are too happy about this. But I’ll get it back.

Day 4 I conducted a little experiment. And lets just say I found nothing wrong with having sex while on the Master Cleanse. I’ll not go so far as to say that the Master Cleanse is a aphrodisiac but I will say that I seemed to last a bit longer and was not drop dead tired afterward like usual. Again that was just my experience. What do the investment commercial disclaimers say, “individual results may vary.”

On a different note, I tried the Senna tea laxative and gave the salt water flush a break for a day and boy did that stuff grip my stomach. But I tell you one thing. There is still a load of garbage in my system. You’d think after 3 straight days of cleansing and SWF I’d be close to empty by now. But nope! And I’m a mostly chicken eating person. I have beef once or twice a week if that. And I have to have veggies with just about every meal. In other words I’m not a meat and potatoes kind of guy. And I don’t drink a boat load of sodas and no coffee. Yet and still there’s a load of crap still in me! No wonder some people feel the need to cleanse past the 10 day period.

Other than that and the boredom from no variety for my taste buds (I actually get off on the salty taste of the SWF) thing are going will. 5 days in 5 to go. Woohoo!

Happy Cleansing…

Day Two Of The Master Cleanse

Day 2 of the Master Cleanse has been rough. I’m not sure but I think I hit a wall. If you count the two juice only days I did before the cleanse, it means I’m entering my 4th day without solids. Most people will hit their wall anywhere from 2 to 4 days into the cleansing process. Once you get over this hump things get easier. Can’t wait for that! It’s funny because I’m drinking 2 servings of lemonade at a time and the hunger pains are not going away like before.
It’s amazing how much crap the salt water flush is bringing out of me. This is a major component of the Master Cleanse and not a part to exclude. If you are doing the cleanse and not participating in the SWF I would say you are missing 90% of the benefits of doing the cleanse. It would be like using a scouring pad and cleanser to clean the bathtub but never rinse everything out. Yuk! If you’re having trouble with it, at least take the laxative tea every so often (not everyday).
So far that’s the only interesting thing to report.
I’ll let you know if anything else comes up or out. ;)
Happy cleansing.

My Thoughts – First Twenty Four Hours Of The Master Cleanse

I’ve cleansed many times in the past and it’s not usually something I go around sharing with everyone because for one I didn’t think anyone would care to know. But also you may come across the negative naysayers who will tell you about how so and so tried that and it didn’t work or how dangerous that sounds blah blah blah. Who needs that when you’re mustering all the strength in you to stay focused on your goal right? But I never thought about how helpful my accounts would be to those on the same journey. And so Master Cleanse Answers was born. But even more specifically, these past few posts are chronicling my day to day Master Cleanse experiences so you can get a behind the scenes look at the ins and outs of the cleanse.

The first 24 hours were quite a ride. In the morning I fixed my first serving of the lemonade and drank it fairly quickly as I was hungry. You may be wondering why I was so hungry on day one? Read my pre cleanse post and you’ll understand. Anyway I pre mixed 2 more servings of lemonade and took them with me to work. Through out the day I experienced slight headaches but nothing to worry about. When I felt the hunger pains coming on I drank more lemonade and was fine. Note, if you are a active person you may need more than the minimum 6 servings of cleanse per day.

Most of the day went without a hitch until that evening. Most people do the sea salt water flush at night when they know they’ll be at home near a toilet. That’s a good bit of advice…let me tell ya! The hardest part about the SWF for me is the amount of water you have to drink. One liter quart (= 4 cups) of water is a lot to consume at one time. I didn’t chug it all at once as some suggest as I didn’t want to spill it or even worse, gag and ralph it all back up. Take your time. It took me 4 or 5 minutes to get it all down. For some the salty taste is a problem but not for me. My problem is having that much liquid siting in my ever shrinking stomach. Not a good feeling! But this is where it’s effectiveness comes in. Assuming you mix the right amount of sea salt (I used a tablespoon), that mixture will slosh around in your gut and stir up all the crap the lemonade loosens. It’s gotta come out at some point…and it did! About 35 minutes after my Bucket O Salt Juice I was crapping my brains out. Sorry…theirs no other way to describe it.

Anyway, that’s much it for day one. Next up day two.

Happy cleansing.

Day One of the Master Cleanse

Well here we are. Day one of the Master Cleanse. If you’ve been following my last few posts you know I’ve been pre cleansing for the past 7 days. Other than feeling a little weak it hasn’t been too bad. From here on I’ll try and chronicle the ins and outs of my 10 day journey. Maybe not every day…I don’t want to bore you too much. ;)
I had a Fat Burger, shake and fries as my last supper before starting. This is not so bad as a precursor to a pre cleanse, but definitely not something you want to do the day before the Master Cleanse.
It’s taken the better part of the past week for my body to completely eliminate that meal. This is why it’s so important to give your body a head start, sort of speak in pre cleansing. You don’t have to go for a full week like I did but a few days of rest from heavy meat and processed junk foods can really help start you off on the right foot.
The Master Cleanse Ingredients
2 tbsp lemon juice
1-2 tbsp of pure grade B maple syrup or A dark amber
1/10 tsp cayenne pepper (power) or to taste
8-10 oz of purified water

As long as I stay busy I seem to do ok. You’ll find that the hunger really only gets to you when you’re idle. As I sit hear and  write this post I can hear my stomach grumbling. Shut Up! We haven’t even got started yet. lol

Happy Cleansing!

Five Days of Pre Master Cleansing

I’m on my 5th day of pre cleansing. For those who don’t know, I’m preparing my body for the master cleanse by eating only fruits and vegetables. Honestly it hasn’t been too bad. I will confess I did let a few questionable ingredients slip through with Mother’s Day being just yesterday. I had a salad or two with feta cheese, nuts, and creamy types of dressing. Oh and there was the Chinese food we ate on Saturday. But don’t get mad, it was their vegetarian entree. You do have to keep the high sodium content in mind but as long as there’s no MSG it’s okay in moderation. Remember not to be too hard on yourself. We haven’t started the cleanse yet.

The main focus with this pre cleanse step is to not have any heavy material in your system when you start the cleanse. Meat, especially beef can take days to process through your system and this puts a great deal of stress on your body’s resources. Just think about what happens to you after Thanksgiving dinner.

I got a email from a person who did the master Cleanse and got sick with a urinary tract infection among other things. Now there could be a number of things that caused that. But one things for sure. In the process of cleansing your body you are weakening curtain defenses even if but for a moment. So it’s best to start from a level playing field. Make sure your immune system is strong and that you don’t already have any lingering ailments. I just came off a stomach infection 2 weeks ago. So a pre cleanse is definitely in order.

Next up on Tuesday we start the Liquid Fast. Natural juices, herbal teas, and WATER only. Maybe you can throw and smoothie in there if you need to cheat a little.

Bye for now, and happy cleansing.

Day One of the Pre Master Cleanse

Hello all. Today marks the beginning of another cleansing. I’ll be starting the Master Cleanse a week from today and so I’m getting my body ready for the cleanse by doing a fruit and vegetable fast for five days. Then for days six and seven I’ll move into a juice fast. All of this is setting the body up for easy transition to the lemonade cleanse.

Some people have a hard time sticking to the cleanse and there can be many different reasons for this. One of the main reasons being that they’ve never fasted before. It does take discipline and practice to complete something like this because you are changing lifestyle patterns that have developed over years. For some people, the idea of no coffee in the morning can cause a nervous break down.
So I recommend trying something small like a juice or smoothie fast for a day or two to see how you handle it. Then take things a little further.

Don’t rush into a ten day Master Cleanse if you’ve never done one before. You could be setting yourself up for failure. Remember this is not a sprint, it’s a marathon.

For this mornings breakfast I have honeydew melon, strawberries, bananas, grapefruit and orange juice. I’ll probably make a smoothie of some sort and eat the melon and grapefruit straight. It’s also a good idea to have some kind of juicer. I have a Magic Bullet with juicer attachment. It’s not the greatest piece of equipment for juicing but it can handle smoothie pretty well.

Well that’s enough for now. I won’t be posting daily until I actually start the cleanse, but I will keep you in the loop on my status.
If you want to join me you can jump in at anytime within the next seven days. But you should do so sooner rather than later to give your body the time it needs to adjust.

God bless and talk to ya soon.
